Mecha-tankie is an aesthetic revolution and vibe shift pioneered by Haz Al-Din of Infrared in a 2022 stream. [1] In this stream, Haz Al-Din pointed to the phenomenon of workers who appear to own their means of production but in fact this is an exoskeleton which is simply compounding their labor and making them mechas. This class of mechas which includes farmers with their tractors, truckers, and heavy industry workers, is the revolutionary subject for the mecha tankie. In the same stream, Haz Al-Din rejected the patsoc label and "civic patriotism" which is the institutional patriotism of social democracy. In contrast the mecha tankie believes in material patriotism, the kind which is not reducible to a dead idea but is oriented toward the future. [1]
