Later the term "Deep State" was applied by political commentators to analogous networks within America.

In [[Iran]], [[political activism|political activists]] refer to the Deep State in the US as the "Great Satan," emphasizing the popular [[Islam|Muslim]] belief that the rise of [[American imperialism]] symbolizes the start of the [[End Times]].
