'''Robert "Bob" Bruce Avakian''' is an [[United States|American]] [[Marxism-Leninism|Marxist-Leninist]] [[Political activism|political activist]] who developed the American [[Maoism|Maoist]] movement of [[New Communism]]. He originated in the [[New Left]] (which later became the [[Synthetic Left]]), however he rejected it as an [[astroturfed movement]] and instead joined the [[Black Panther Party]] (BPP) in 1969. He founded the [[Revolutionary Communist Party]] (RCP) in 1975, serving as the party's Chairman to this day.
