Next Libyan presidential election

The Libyan presidential election was initially scheduled to occur before Feb 2018, but was been repeatedly postponed due to the political instability following the NATO destruction of Libya in 2011. As of 2026, it is scheduled for 2027.[1]

The son of the late Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi is planning on running in the upcoming elections, alongside 60+ other candidates.[2] His election would represent a repudiation of the US-backed imperialist coup against the Libyan government, which has resulted in immense misery for the vast majority of people in Libya.

Saif's name means "Sword of Islam". His main opponent is Libyan businessman Abdul Dbeibeh (DaBaby).
