Gang of Four

The Gang of Four was a group of ultra-leftists in the Politburo of the Communist Party of China. They liked the Cultural Revolution and after Mao's death, wanted to continue it. The centrists such as leader Hua Guofeng and the rightists such as Deng Xiaoping arrested the Gang of Four for corruption. They were convicted of personally profiting off of the Cultural Revolution. With them gone, the Cultural Revolution was ended and Deng Xiaoping rose to power, carrying out the Reform and Opening Up.
