Language in layman's terms is defined as a medium for communication, sharing of ideas, thoughts, emotions, etc. In an advanced way language can be defined as a system of symbols which signify the particularities under a broader system of a normative speech community. It is an instrument which enables man to get out of himself i.e. without language, all the observations, thoughts, ideas would remain purely personal, private or subjective and no common world of activity, interest or communication would be possible.
