The Romanian Communist Party (PCR) (Romanian: Partidul Comunist Român PCR) was a communist party in Romania. It was founded in 1921 by the pro-Bolshevik wing of the Socialist Party of Romania and lasted until the reactionary forces of the 1989 Western-backed coup decided to forcefully dissolve and outlaw it. The party ruled in Romania from December 1947 to December 1989.
