Socialist realism

Basically realist art but depicting socialist scenes. The modern art which exists today was created as a liberal counter to Socialist realism. Today, it is obvious which movement is objectively superior.

Theoretical basis

Art reflects its class basis. A normal, productive class, like the proletariat, wants to see beauty in real life. An obsolete class, which is not advancing production but living as a parasite, such as the bourgeois, likes to get lost in ideals, separating itself as far away from reality as possible.

Hence, when the bourgeois rule and hold cultural hegemony, most art created is meaningless, or even mocking meaning. Examples of this are modern art or Marvel, which makes entire movies with no serious message, just jokes.

On the other hand, when the proletariat is in power, and achieves beauty in real life, it will celebrate that beauty in art. This is why socialist realism was popular in the Soviet Union.

Realism was popular in all revolutionary eras, like the French Revolution.

Examples

The Soviets built beautiful metro stops and glorious statues like The Motherland Calls. They were simply designed to reflect the beautiful reality of socialism.

Maxim Gorky created works of socialist realism.
