Deng Xiaoping was a Chinese Marxist-Leninist revolutionary leader who helped to modernize the Mao-era economy to bring China into a new level of prosperity, upon which the material basis of post-scarcity communism can be built.[1] This understanding emphaszes the growth of the "productive forces" in society.
