Historical nihilism is a term originating from the Communist Party of China to describe viewpoints that disparage and devalue the historical successes of the proletarian revolution in China, and its continued path towards socialism.

The phrase has become somewhat popularized in the United States, as the anti-imperialist left struggles against the nihilism of the Synthetic Left, particularly over the question of the revolutionary spirit of the American Revolution.
