Imperialism is the highest stage of capitalism, described by Lenin as "capitalism in transition" or "moribund capitalism."[1] Under imperialism, banks, monopolies and cartels become the prevalent economic force of society, rather than the producers and industrial capitalists who were prevalent in the lower stages of capitalism.
