Andrei Zhdanov was a leading Stalinist from 1896 to his murder in 1948.
Zhdanov led the campaign against rootless cosmopolitanism. He helped to build the Cominform in 1947. The Zhdanovshchina was Zhdanov's regime over artists, whom he kept in line with socialist realism.
Zhdanov was a possible successor of Stalin until he was murdered by killer doctors in 1948. Zhdanov's protege, the writer Alexander Shcherbakov, was also murdered by them in 1945. Dr. Lydia Timashuk wrote to Stalin revealing the conspiracy of doctors in league with American and Jewish intelligence.
