Tsai Ing-wen is a Taiwanese political who is serving as the "president" of the so-called "Republic of China" (Taiwan) which is only recognized by 13 countries as of 2021. China recognizes Taiwan as a rogue province.

In March of 2023, she provocatively visited the United States. Her visit to NYC was protested by the Center for Political Innovation, which argued that her visit was increasing tensions between the USA and fellow nuclear superpower China.[1][2][3] Her arrival was also greeted by both supporters of Taiwanese independence, as well as Beijing supporters who claim that Tsai is a traitor to China.[4]
