The website was created in December 2014, almost a year ago after the Euromaidan color revolution, it was co-founded by George Tuka and Anton Gerashchenko, a Ukrainian politician who later served as "governor of Luhansk Oblast" (Ukrainian side) who also claimed to have taken part in Arab Spring protests in Egypt when he lived there and a former deputy minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine who later became an official advisor for the Ministry respectively.
