== Additions beyond MIC == === Congress === The US congress has the power to end our wars, but they choose not to. Interestingly enough, congress has sought to avoid official declarations of war, and rather has leaned into various "authorizations for the use of force" types of legislation, to avoid the public outcry against war.<ref>[https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/107/sjres23/text S.J.Res. 23 (107th): Authorization for Use of Military Force] on [[govtrack]]</ref><ref>[https://realistreview.org/2021/09/14/missing-in-action-congress-in-foreign-policy/ Missing in Action: Congress in Foreign Policy] by Realist Review</ref> === Intelligence === The intelligence apparatus is keen on ensuring that war continues without interruption. Operation Cyclone and Timber Sycamore are examples of the intelligence community directly financing the very "terrorists" the "War on Terror" was targeting. === Media === The corporate media is owned by the very corporations which profit from war, both directly through production, as well as indirectly through economic stimulus as a result of wartime industrial production. The close relationship between the media and the intelligence community can also explain this desire for war. === Academia === One example of academia producing support for war is the fact that many New Left trotskyist-types of academics have become neo-conservatives who support US imperial wars.<ref>[https://theconservativehistoricalreview.wordpress.com/2019/08/31/neoconservatisms-trotskyist-origin/ NEOCONSERVATISM’S TROTSKYIST ORIGIN]</ref> === Think-Tank === Military contractors have funded their own pro-war think tanks, such as CACI International.<ref>[https://www.commondreams.org/views/2021/08/29/when-military-contractors-fund-their-own-pro-war-think-tanks When Military Contractors Fund Their Own Pro-War Think Tanks] by Sarah Lazare on [[Common Dreams]]</ref><ref>[https://multinationalmonitor.org/mm2003/03jan-feb/jan-feb03corp2.html The Military-Industrial-Think Tank Complex] by William Hartung and Michelle Ciarrocca, as part of The Business of War series</ref>
